Just wondering if anyone has recommendations of any pads or such as I now have one boob significantly smaller than the other after surgery, which is noticeable when wearing certain tops.
many thanks Janice x
Hi Janice. I tend to wear sport type bras. Got some plain black and white ones from Amazon. I bought some pads from Amazon too and slip those in and both boobs look the same. However, I was very small to start with so no massive difference now I have lost one.
The hospital will book you in for a prosthesis fitting also.
Hi, yes, ask your bcn about a fitting for a prosthesis. I had my fitting last week and it was very helpful. The prosthesis is ordered and it takes about 3 weeks from then. I was also given a link for a free bra from amoena - just postage (4.50) to pay. I have been wearing sports bras for now too. Someone recommended using the pad from a padded bra or bra insert pads. Hope that helps x
After my left boob mastectomy, I got one of those prothesis because I thought it was covered by my insurance. (it wasn't.) I never wear it as it feels heavy(and I'm pretty small) and makes me feel... I don't know... not good.
Instead I wear those soft cup, lightly lined bras. It looks like I have two boobs. I avoid looking in the mirror without having one on. it's just easier.
M&S do lovely post op bras. I bought one for my lumpectomy and didn't realise until it arrived that it's got pockets for prosthetics if you needed them. They're quite padded though (& I didn't need a lot removed so I'm not noticing a difference)
Good luck!
Hi CJ W,
After my right boob mascetomy, was given a bra with a prosthesis boob. It is heavy to deal with. Use my old bras now with foam boob which feels less heavy. Due to op have skin from surgery sewed under right arm, was EE bra cup size, appears as fat under right arm pit. I'm a size 10/12 so kept away from sleeveless tops. Took me awhile to look in mirror to look at myself but don't despair, we adjust with our op & buy clothes to feel good! We are beautiful & look good in whatever we choose to wear! xx
