Has anyone been given advice on foods, supplements or vitamins to avoid whilst taking ribociclib? I read somewhere that you should not take probiotics or eat yoghurt etc with live cultures, or have live vaccines whilst having targeted cancer therapies?

  • Hi there, I couldn't see anything specific foods in this Macmillan information leaflet Link here. But when I had a query about food (my question was about soy and letrozole), I  talked to the Macmillan support team snd they kindly sent me some relevant information, so it might be worth you asking. You can call them on 0800 808 0000.  Best wishes

  • Hi

I’ve been on ribociclib since last September & see oncology dept every 4 weeks. When I first started the drug I had an assessment & they went through everything giving me information on it. They didn’t say to avoid any foods or drinks (& it’s not in information pack). Was told to avoid those things when I was having IV chemo though. These tablets are classed as targeted therapy rather than actual chemo so that may be why foods are ok.

  • Hi Sanguine. Thank you for answering  my post. I haven't been given too much information as yet, other than 2 pages listing possible side effects - a bit worrying. However, my oncologist says most people cope quite well. How are you coping with everyday life and the side effects?

Thank you again and I hope you are doing well.

  • Hi Yares,

I have been on Ribociclib since December.  I was originally told not to eat soft cheese, make sure everything is cooked properly a bit like when you are pregnant I've heard.  No side effects so far only a horrible rash.

  • Many thanks Lee. Hope you continue to do well on Ribociclib. Take care

  • Hi,

They advised to avoid grapefruit. And basically have a healthy diet, cut down on red meat etc ..nothing drastic.

side effects I’ve had so far have mainly been tiredness and the hot flushes and night sweats!

    Hope you’re feeling okay !

  • Thanks Mandy4. Hope things go well
