Good morning All,
I went to the Dr a couple of weeks ago as I have been getting discomfort under arms, down sides and stinging pains in right breast and collar. I assumed it was due to the menopause as I have other menopause symptoms. The Dr booked me in with breast care. I spoke to the Dr there and he said everything looked fine and my shoulder pain could possibly be to radiotherapy I'd had from having a lumpectomy a couple of years ago, and he would like to see me in four months to check on how I was doing.
I then had my annual mammogram and went home. Four days letter I received a letter with an appointment to see the breast Dr/surgeon in three weeks time. I have received no results or know why I have this appointment and can not find out any information. When I had my annual mammogram last year I was told on the day that everything was fine after an ultrasound as well. I am just surprised to have this appointment and wondered if it is usual to have an appointment with the breast surgeon if the results were fine? Previously when I've had my mammogram I have been told results on the day, so this is new for me and I wondered how often you are called back after a mammogram.
Having been through this previously, I know how just talking with each other helps to relieve the worry.
Have a lovely day and thank you for reading my worries x
Hi Dungarees girl , sorry you are having this anxious time, not knowing why you have this appointment. I think there are a lot of recalls after mammograms though I haven’t had this myself. I’ve had many breast issues including cancer eventually but each time I have found the lump or thickening myself. Hopefully they are just being super thorough in your case, and it will turn out to be nothing of concern. The only situation I’ve had which is in any way similar was when I’d contacted the breast clinic between annual mammogram/ follow ups, because I’d had some nipple discharge on the side that had been treated. I saw the doctor at the clinic after a mammogram and ultrasound. Nothing showed up so he said he’d see me again in 4 months just to check all was still ok, but to contact them if further discharge. I was a bit surprised when the appointment came and it was less than 3 months rather than 4. Thankfully all was ok. I don’t know why it was a bit sooner than he’d said. In your case though it’s a lot sooner. Can you phone the clinic for clarification? Horrible to in that limbo land of waiting and wondering. Love and hugs, HFxx
Hi all you lovely people, everyone is always so kind on here which is partly why I messaged as I'd remembered such amazing support previously. Funnily enough Happy feet, I contacted the breast clinic by telephone who couldn't give me anymore information. I then called my GP to see if they'd been sent mammogram results, but they knew nothing. So I emailed the breast clinic...and just received a call saying that they had made a mistake and shouldn't have sent me the appointment in three weeks. So that's a relief...I just have my check up to see how the breast , shoulder and side pain etc is.
Thank you for all being so amazing
Xxx
