Hi Everyone,
I’m Kaz
After finishing chemo and radiotherapy just over 2 years ago I have struggled with the condition of my hair since it has grown back. It hardly grows and snaps off and comes out all the time. Also going through menopause which I think is adding to the problem
can anyone recommend any good shampoo and conditioner that would really help this?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
Kaz
HI KazH22
I have a lovely hairdresser who recommended keratin shampoo and conditioner to improve the condition.
I used it and found it was much better than previously. I also find that if I use different types alternating each shampoo / conditioner it seems better (sounds odd I know, but it seems to work!). So I have 2 bottles of shampoo and conditioner in my shower and just swap round each time.
The best brand for me I have found is OGX - it's often in supermarkets on sale at half price too. I go for the pink bottle and the brown bottle (the brown one has brown shampoo and conditioner, which can seem a bit off putting but it is nice!)
I tried the Tresemme brand at one point and didn't find it anywhere near as good.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes, Lesley
Hi Lesley,
Thanks you so much for your message. I will definitely look into the Keratin shampoo and conditioner.
I’ve looked online but there are so many options and reviews I never know how genuine they all are so recommendations are always helpful.
Thanks again
Kaz
Hi KazH22 I had a significant problem with my hair several years ago and saw a dermatologist. There are lots of specialist shampoos but I agree with lesleyhelen that OGX is great. I use the purple ones as I have fine hair and they make a real difference. It might take a few washes for your hair to adapt to them but it’s worth sticking with. The dermatologist recommended viviscal tablets - they are expensive but often available on offer in Holland and Barrett. If you can, I would go for taking tablets daily for 3 months and then reduce to 3 times a week. I checked with my oncologist that it was ok to take these still and was told it was fine but you may want to check with yours too.
Good luck, X
