Hi I have just had cycle 2 on EC. I tried the cold cap but it was too painfully cold for me. The chemo team have referred me for a wig. I am confused if you have to pay for it via them ir not. Nobody mentioned payments. The referral was to "Wonderful". Whilst my income is limited I don't think I qualify for any help with it. I'm just a bit confused.
Hi Cowsrus
My hospital trust gave me a voucher for £100 towards a wig along with a list of wig providers that I could buy it from. Your BCNS should be able to clarify whether you have to make a payment or not.

Thanks, I wasnt really listening this morning when they made the referral. The company received a referral and contacted me fir an appointment. I have another chemo cycle before that appointment
I was given a prescription that just said it was for supply of a wig .I had to use it at a particular shop that they had an agreement with .When I went there ,I was told I would pay first £79 but could get a wig up to £300 & my NHS trust (mid-essex) covered the difference. I think other trusts have different amounts .Ask the chemo unit if there is a particular shop you need to go to (I expect there is ) and how much it covers you for .
Hi cowsrus
I was given a £100 voucher towards a wig and also a list of places that accepted the vouchers. Like you I decided after my second cold cap treatment that it was not for me. I would speak to your breast cancer nurse. Good luck with the rest of your treatment.
