Ive had breast cancer. 16 rounds of chemo and surgery (lumpectomy and axillary clearance) 3 and a half weeks ago.
saw my surgeon Thursday to get the good news that there’s no evidence of cancer but he wants me to have an ultrasound as there were only 2 lymph nodes in the tissue that was removed.
I read my first ultrasound report and it stated I had In the right axilla multiple (more than 3) abnormal looking lymph nodes are demonstrated. Some of them have cortical thickness up to 7 mm. Some of them appear rounded with no obvious hilum.
im now really worried that there are some still in my armpit and I’ll need more surgery. But he basically said he’d removed all my tissue so is the ultrasound incorrect or has he somehow missed some?
Hi Rachcrumble79 welcome to the forum. Is it possible that the chemo has eradicated one of the lymph nodes? This is what chemo is intended to do prior to surgery so it could potentially be that as an explanation. If you are and remain concerned then please do have a chat with them again and ask them to fully explain the differences.
