anyone know how long you are recommended to wear compression socks after a lumpectomy???

  • Hi Sesssionwatcher welcome to the forum. I think a lot depends on your medical history for example if you have heart problems. I wore mine for about a week after surgery.

  • Thank you.
    can’t find an answer anywhere.
    Im 55 no problems

    they’re not even tight!

  • It depends on your mobility . I was told until I was fully mobile .

  • I was told they could come off soon as I was up and about but had to be on for a minimum of 24hrs. x

  • I was told 24 hours from when I put them on, which was about half an hour before my op x

  • Thanks everyone. They were giving me the ick so they’re off!! Blooming baggy anyway. Plus I had paddled through something in them in hospital!! Think it’s worth the risk!!!LaughingLaughing

  • I wasn't asked to wear them at all for either the initial lumpectomy or the re-excision. The surgeon did an assessment of risk and asked regarding history of thrombosis or thrombo-embolism. I said I had varicose veins and she said that wasn't a problem. I think it depends on the hospital. On the wall there was an information poster that said the new policy was no compression stockings unless it would be deemed necessary based on individual assessment. It also said something about latest research.

  • I had lumpectomy surgery and axillary clearance 3 weeks ago and sexy as hell though! JoyI had to wear them for 2 weeks. Bloody pain!
