Vaccinations following breast surgery and radiotherapy

Hello all, I was told, following breast surgery and radiotherapy, that I should have any vaccinations or blood tests or even blood pressure checks on my right arm ( treatment was to left side boob).

I am wondering how long I need to follow this advice, as it gets tricky especially around COVID and flu jab time.

I have been trying to find an answer to this question and so far no success!

  • Thanks, I’m going to stick with not getting anything done on that arm as that is what I was advised by my oncologist, that’s all we can do! X

  • I'm so sorry that you are suffering so much following your flu jab, your immune system certainly has taken a bashing.

It is looking clear from all the replies that it may be best to stick to vaccinations in the other arm, but then you've got a problem with that too.

    Keep fighting x

  • Hi Bilko

Hope you are doing ok too.

They didn't give an approximate timeline. I had my surgery in July and then start chemo in October. When I asked about vaccines being we were entering into flu/covid season. Knowing that the type of chemo I was recieving it was discussed heavily with the oncology team about the best course of action as my immune system was going to be non existent until had finished the EC at least. It was possible it was bad timing but it it was it is.

I still have a cough but going through the side effects.of the cycle also.

    Take care x
