Hi All. I'm two days into slowly building up my fitness, since finishing my hospital treatment for very early BC a few months ago. I've chosen to do pilates, gym work and swimming. Fortunately our local swim centre has a fitness suite as well. As gym work is totally new to me, today's intro session started right from square one. As luck would have it, my instructor for this happened to be trained in working with cancer survivors. After getting my relevant info, my blood pressure was taken and it turns out that mine is on the high side - I believe this is one of Letrozole's wonderful side effects. Anyway, I've been advised to contact my GP, just to check it will be okay for me to follow a full gym programme, in the light of this. But I'm quietly hopeful and actually beginning to feel slightly fitter already, just from having walked to and from the exercise sessions of the past two days.

Hi Eebee - and thanks so much. Now that I've completed my first three fitness sessions (I'm just back from pilates) I would definitely recommend doing something like this to anyone who's able. Macmillan runs a community access programme for fitness activities in our area and I'm sure in other areas. Our local centre also happens to be on the promenade, so there's the added bonus of a huge sea view as soon as you leave the building. It's all so good for the spirits!
That's brilliant. I struggle with motivation to fit it in around work so well done for making this happen for you. Best wishes
I got my blood pressure taken today by my GP and thankfully, it's back to normal again. Maybe because I've cut right down on coffee. I've also started having porridge for breakfast. (Rozalia, if you're reading this, thanks for the porridge recommendation.) Anyway, a good BP reading means I can ask the team at the gym to set up a programme for me (beginner level!). The outcome I'm hoping for - some easing of Let. muscle pain, and a move towards preventing a recurrence. Nicky
