Aromtase inhibitors eg exemestane and feet problems

Just wondering if anyone else following chemo and aromatase inhibitors has developed foot pain. I can barely walk at times, especially when getting up after being in bed or sitting for some time due to pain in the soles of my feet.

I now have bad heel pain on one foot and have been told this is probably plantar fasciitis and might be a result of the aromatase inhibitor. Does anyone have similar problems or is it entirely unrelated? I do BTW have ankle arthritis so maybe it has to do with this.

Thank you

  • Hi  , I’m on Anastrozole and I do get joint pain, mainly in my feet. But it’s not severe and walking actually helps. It doesn’t stop me doing anything really, it’s just unpleasant. It’s worse in my right foot and my podiatrist says I have very limited mobility in my big toe. That foot also sometimes cramps, painful but does resolve. I didn’t have any arthritis type issues before so maybe that’s why it’s affected me less. Sorry you are having such pain, I do think the effects of hormone blockers are underplayed. But I’ll keep popping the pills as I’m hoping that they are keeping the beast at bay! Would it be worth discussing trying a different hormone treatment? Love and hugs, HFxx

  • Hi… I’ve been in Zoladex and Exemestane since Christmas and I get terrible pain in my hands and feet. I hobble when I get up in the morning and now wear wrist supports a lot of the time. My latest SE is trigger toe in my left big toe! I’m only 45 and feel like an old lady!!
I’m really hoping that things settle down. I head that SE peak from around 2 months xxx
