My pharmacist is no longer able to source my Teva 2x10mg Tamoxifen tablets, and I’m extremely nervous about changing brands. When I first started Tamoxifen in 2020 (for 10 years) I did a lot of research and Teva sounded like the most popular brand, with least side effects. This was in Canada. I had months of dizziness and hot flushes but it settled down and I tolerated it well. Then I moved home to the UK and had to switch to 2x10mg and I did have a tough 2-3 months with mood swings etc - maybe some different ingredients here in the UK. Now I have to switch again and it feels a lot to cope with alongside some other things going on. I know side effects are personal to an extent, but what brands do people find best?

Hello kc2019, I started tamoxifen 20mg about 20 days ago and was given mylan brand. The hot flushes started almost immediately which I guess is to be expected. I experienced a few headaches but that settled quite quickly. I take it in the evening, the hot flushes so far are not as bad as I expected and it’s certainly not what keeps me awake at night. So far so good and I am thankful. I have asked the GP to add it onto my prescriptions which they have agreed. I am yet to have the conversation with the pharmacy but I am guessing, they will tell me that they will try their best but will not always be guaranteed, which is fair enough. Best wishes.

I have been on tamoxifen for 2 years and like you for 10yrs,it seems every few months my make changes to another brand and it seems it is down to availability or cost from wholesellers.I have thought of changing to a different drug but every one like you say has side effects so i put up with sweats and moods and sleep,hope things settle down for you.kind regards
