Powder brows

 Hi all,

So I’m due to start chemotherapy next week. I had my eyebrows tattooed last month and am due a top up the week after I start chemo. My oncologist told me obviously there’s a higher risk of infection etc but ultimately it’s my decision whether to go ahead with it. Just wondering if anyone on here has had their eyebrows tattooed during chemo & if they got an infection or were ok?

Thanks Relaxed️

  • Hi

I had mine done before , I never went for the top up as I was told it wasn’t a good idea by my oncologist . Even though I lost my hair early on I never lost my eyebrows . My eyelashes went a month after I had finished my last chemo. It’s entirely up to you what you decide but I think chemo is hard enough without putting yourself at risk . Good luck with your treatment x

  • I would have taken the risk but my brow tech wouldn’t agree to do it as it would invalidate their insurance as chemo is contraindicated.

  • I had my brows micro bladed before chemo and my technician recommended no top up due to risk of infection.  I just fill mine in with a pencil or powder.

  • Hi Coraline,

I'd say it's not worth the risk of infection. I've had my brows microbladed too, and the top-up just makes them slightly darker - it's not a necessity. You can always get the top up done once you've finished chemo.

Wishing you all the best with your treatment xx

  • Hey lovely

I'm at this stage now I need mine doing again.  However I've been told to look at powder brows as a less risky option to having microblade top up.

But I'd still speak to your oncologist first.

  • Hi

I left mine too late so couldn't get micro blade or tattoo. To be honest I'm glad. The tattoos look far too solid. I've still got some lashes and some eyebrows. I've also still have hairy legs, what's that all about?. I got an eyebrow pen from Amazon. It has like two tips at one end and one at the other. I paint in the missing bits and blur with a spooly.

I do apply mascara but also do a very fine eyeliner line on my lower lashes. I don't usually use eyeliner. I prefer a line using Brown or grey eyeshadow on the lash line. I don't think it is as hard.I

I've booked myself into a Looking Good, feeling great make up workshop in the beginning of December. I'm not sure how much I will learn, I am a bit of an addict but it should be fun.

Make up consultants in Boots and Department stores are very happy to help especially if you go at quiet times. The bigger houses like Clarins ,EsteeLauder are well trained. Look at the consultants eyebrows and if you like the way she does her own you will probably like the way they do yours. You may even come home with some free samples, great for overnight bags.

I'm another life I was a Buyer for a cosmetic department in Debenhams. Each consultant did me a make up look for my wedding. I used the best bits of each on the actual day.

Three times! What did I do?

  • That's a great response thank you.  Really good ideas there too.

I've never thought about going to the consultants in stores.

And apparently those workshops are really good I've heard about those too.  Hopefully you'll enjoy yourself there and have a good glow up session.

It's the little things that make it all more bearable isn't it.
