Hi, I've just recently had my first round of chemo and was surprised that I hadn't felt ill. I have felt tired the first few days but fine after that. I am just wondering what side effects other people have had after their first round of chemo and if the side effects get worse after each round ?

  • Hello Skw,

I am happy to know that you have it easy. I was the same initially. But eventually I had slight loss of taste, nausea and then vomiting. On my fifth round when the medicine was changed to Docetaxel I developed peripheral neuropathy both on my feet and hands. I’m still suffering from it but it is not as bad as before.

I am hoping that you will continue to have it easy. I wouldn’t want nor wish anyone suffering as I had. I wish you the best.

  • Hi   I don’t know what drug you’re on but I had 4 rounds of EC then 4 rounds of Paclitaxol. I had no nausea through any of them which surprised me! I did feel tired but otherwise I was able to continue working & being active. I did get terrible aches with my first round of paclitaxol but they just reduced my dose & that solved that!

Good luck with the rest of your treatment & fingers crossed you don’t get any side effects!

  • Hi

i was fine had a few side effects on the EC but when I went onto paclitaxel  I was fine did get tied towards the end of my treatment

  • That’s good news - hope you continue to be free of most of the side effects.
I’m due to start EC in 2 weeks and I’m so nervous.
Did you do anything special to prepare or during to help?
wishing you well for the next round x

  • Hi thanks for your reply that's good to know. I hope the peripheral neuropathy eases soon for you !

  • Hi no I never changed anything apart from eating a bit more and drinking a lot of water! Good luck with your chemo ! I was really nervous too but there was nothing to be nervous about really !Most of the appointment time was spent getting steroids and saline through a drip. The chemo only took 30 minutes to go in so it was okay!

  • Thank you ! I'm getting four rounds of ec then 3 rounds of doxetaxel so hoping not too many side effects ! Glad to hear you didn't have too many side effects either !

  • Thanks for the reassurance. I think drinking water is important.
Did you have a PICC line too?

Hoping it will go smoothly then

  • Hi no I just had a canuler into the hand.

  • Good luck with it all ! I'm sure you will get through it and I hope you don't have many side effects !
