For those on the bisphosphonate treatment..I have been on alendronic acid tablets for.a year now and have just visited the hygienist today.  She prescribed high fluoride toothpaste to help prevent cavities.

Never heard of this, wondered if anyone else has been prescribed this.  I attend every 6 months but this is the first time they mentioned this.

  • Hi, yes, I have this. It’s called Duraphat, and it’s made by Colgate. It looks and tastes just the same as regular toothpaste. X

  • Hi. I've just come off bisphosphonates after taking them for a year due to terrible acid reflux. My dentist didn't prescribe me anything but suggested more regular appointments.  When you're on bisphosphonates dentists are limited as to what they can do so prevention is key. I had a filling replaced but was told that anything significant would have to be carried out in hospital. Sounds like a great idea to me but i was never told about this.

  • Hi just saw your posts. I am getting zolodronic acid infusions twice a year already had 3  and my teeth have become extra sensitive. My dentist has prescribed a high fluoride toothpaste for 6 months to strengthen my teeth.

Hope this helps and your treatment has gone well.  Xx
