DIEP issues 2 yrs post surgery. Anyone relate?

Hello,

I’m trying to make sense of what seems like ongoing intense pulling and tightness in my tummy area from my DIEP 2 years ago now. At times it’s not too bad and other times it’s really distressing. I’d love to hear if anyone has had similar experience? I’ve spoken to plastics nurse several times who says likely nerve pain that will settle and to massage area but feels like 2 yrs is a long time!!! I’m pretty active and exercising as and when I can but nothing seems to help.

Hi PinkLady, I have this too - I had a diep last year and at times I feel my tummy is still really tight & sometimes it is quite uncomfortable. I’m fairly used to it now and it has defo improved from what it was like at the beginning. I’m not encouraged to hear it is still an issue with you two years after the op though! Really hope it settles down for you xx

Hi PinkLady,

Sorry to hear about what you are going through. I had a diep in November 2021. Tbh, I am used to the tightness & pain, which had significantlyimproved. I stopped asking the plastic team when i would 'feel normal' again as they kept saying it can take several months or years to settle. I am on ibuprofen and notice relieve when I massage it. In my case the pulling and the tightness is not as before. I would say constant massage helps. I hope you get it settled soon. XX
