Hi I know this might be a silly question but do you get put in a hospital bra after lumpectomy surgery or do you have to supply your own?
Hi Alison
i had to take my own bra to hospital. I put it on when I got dressed. I would recommend a front fastening bra as they are easier to get on. I bought a couple from m and s and a couple from George (online). Good luck with your surgery, I am nearly 4 weeks post lumpectomy.

Thank you Leesland123 I hope all went well and your healing good. Any tips would be good. I have mine on 18th oct.
I have seen some bras packs of 2 on George online, I'm trying to decide what size to get I'm 36 B and size 12 top. Thinking of a meduim.
I bought a large size bras from Asda the twin pack ones , I’m a size 14 36E. The lovely ladies in m and s fitted me, I got a post surgery bra and a couple of normal very soft bras. I was given a small heart shaped cushion by the hospital to put under my arm which was really useful especially when sleeping.I have been very fortunate and recovered really quickly, my surgery was successful and lymph nodes clear so now waiting for an oncology appointment. I was back at work within 2 weeks and have started my Zumba classes this weekend. I was recommended by the nurses to put vitamin E cream on my scars.
Hi Alison
I bought my own post surgery bra. I did a lot of research and ended up getting one online from Royce Lingerie. It might seem a bit pricey for just a short period, but I felt very protected with my front fastening bra that was completely adjustable, including velcro over the shoulders. It's similar to a crop-top. The sizing is excellent as the fabric is stretchy. You want to be sure nothing moves around, and this choice was perfect. I'm normally a size 10 & 34b, I bought a medium. The sizing is excellent as the fabric is stretchy.
I then moved onto Marks & Spencer crop top style bras (for comfort)
Good luck
Lesley
Hi Alison218 apologies my last post went too early. When I went in for my lumpectomy they asked us to being a soft bra with us which was put on us in theatre after surgery..so in essence I woke up with it on.. Personally I used the sports bras from Asda as they were soft to wear as you will have to wear it day and night for a few weeks. They easily keep their shape as well after washing so that was a bonus as well in the event of any wound leakage. Best wishes with your op and please do let us know how it goes. Xxx
Thanks so much everyone
I have just ordered 2 packs of the post surgery comfort bras
Hi, I bought the Asda pre op bras. I am 36c, so bought large. They were tight to wear, but they are needed. They did their job well and I didn’t get any seroma etc. Hated having to wear 24/7 for 2 weeks, but I’m glad I did. I have now bought non wired bras as they are are lot better looking and fit ok, compared to years ago. I find them much nicer to wear now. M&S do a nice range. Also front opening night wear and loose, front opening top to go home in. Wish you well xx
Don't forget if you are buying post surgery bras you get vat free from places like Asda and marks and Spencers. Class as medical equipment
