Hiya i finished chemo in june my hair is growing back thick but grey !! Im starting radiotherapy next week for 3 weeks when can i go yo hairdressers to have it dyed ?

  • Hey

I hear you ! Mine grew back silver then grey and I was a bit shocked Joy . I waited almost 6 months just because that’s what the advice is but maybe speak to your nurse / onco and see what they say ? Im Back to brunette now and even though the style is bonkers at least it’s back to my usual colour !
    Good luck with RT xx

  • Hi estartit

I coloured mine at home at around 3 months post chemo. I used my normal hair colour and lots of conditioning. I felt a lot better and looked a lot better. I didn't have any problems from it. I would double check with your hospital and then speak with your hairdresser who can check your hair and do a strand test perhaps to see how the colour takes. I think it also can depend on the type of colour- I was fine using a wash in box dye but wouldn't have wanted any bleach near me. Maybe your hairdresser could recommend a more gentle temporary colour in the same shade as a try.

  • Hello Blush I finished chemo end of June & have thick dark regrowth but the remains from cold cap were grey ….I’m not ready for that after everything else we are facing so I went to Holland & Barrett & bought Reflex Naturtint in light chestnut

I patch tested overnight & slathered it on & it looks fab!

I also had my micro bladed eyebrows topped up, my Oncologist said it was fine

and my eyelashes have grown back, albeit micro stubs but they are there!

small wins to make us feel “normal”

hope you find something that works for you x
