Hello you people.. I have had a diagnosis of HER2+ invasive ductal carcinoma, with some affected lymph nodes. 6 cycles of chemo followed by mastectomy, lymph removal and radiotherapy. I am waiting for chemo to start and don’t know where to turn with new symptoms. For two days now, I have had tenderness and pain low in my ribs on the same side. I have been told that there is no sign of the cancer having spread to the bones, but the only diagnostic imaging tests I’ve had are ultrasound and a CT scan. My breast is also increasingly sore and swollen. The waiting is really challenging - it’s been a month and a half since I was first told I have breast cancer. Where do you turn if you are worried about new symptoms? I have spoken to the specialist nurse in hospital and she told me the pain is probably due to biopsies. Have any you been in a similar position waiting for treatment to start and experiencing physical changes? All the best, people x
Hi and welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis and that you have to go through all the treatments. Sending hugs. The nurse could be right, as you can experience all sorts of pains and niggles after biopsies and mammograms etc. That’s the trouble with all this, we tend to notice every little pain, twinge and our minds go into overdrive. The waiting is definitely one of the things we all have to get used to and can be very frustrating. If you are still worried about your symptoms please contact your BC nurse again and ask to be checked over. If not your GP who I am sure will reassure you. I wish you well with your treatments. Others who have had similar issues I am sure will be on here to answer you. It’s a great site to help and support you. Xx
hi, I had same initial diagnosis as you and also started to get swelling and some pain. Finally after another visual exam by an oncologist, they said that it is inflammatory cancer. It is worth asking if you can have another visual exam. I hope you don’t have to wait too long.
