Can someone recommend what I should wear in to hospital for a mastectomy?

Any features and/or any brands (preferable high street)

Thank you

  • something front opening easy and loose and comfy

  • I agree, front opening and loose wearing is a lot easier after surgery,  You can get good front opening post surgery bras in the high street shops.  Also a front opening nightshirt with little pockets inside if you have to have drains.  I was told that if wanted to wear knickers under my gown, to make sure they were 100% cotton.  Hope this helps.  Wish you all the best for your operation, x

  • Take a dressing gown, they may walk you to the operating theatre in your hospital gown.  They also used it to cover and warm me up after surgery. Front fastening bra and front fastening pjs or nightshirt.  I bought my post surgery bras from marks and Spencer and also bought a royse from John Lewis.   Drain bag, I received one from the Breast clinic along with a heart shaped pillow.    Pillow was great and I still use it.
coming home, I slept alone and propped up with pillows until my scars were healed.
best of luck with your operation x

  • I have been recommended the surgical bras that are sold in M&S. They have different types and are vat free.

  • Definitely front opening button through clothing  easier to get on and off it took me a few weeks to lift my arm and also a dressing gown as previously mentioned they walked me to theatre

  • I'd recommend leggings or jogging bottoms, can be difficult to do zips and buttons on jeans if you have a drip in your arm
