So here I am with one more day until surgery. Monday at 7:30 ill be admitted for my mastectomy. I am absolutely terrified. I’ve had many surgeries throughout my life time but this one feels different. I’m awake most nights and it does not matter how hard I try and put it to the back of my mind it’s always there like a slap in the face. i will be glad when Monday is over

  • I understand your anxiety about your operation wishing you all the best Keze73 for Monday. Big hugs x

  • It’s very frightening just thinking about it I know. I was scared too I am now nearly 5 weeks post op DMX but can hand in heart say it was nowhere as near as bad as I thought it would be. The pain is managed well following procedure and I had 1 night in the hospital before discharge home. You will need help when home I found as the drains were so cumbersome to manage when completing self care tasks. I tended to remain in the bedroom post discharge for 3 days as just found it easier and you will be quite tired out for a few days possibly. Sleep as much as you can to help recovery. Keep on top of you pain medication and not wait for pain before you take it. Drains came out at 8 days thankfully and moving around then got easier. You will be fine honestly and better than you imagine you will be right now x

  • Aahh thank you for your kind words xx

No good us saying “don’t worry” because we are who we are. It’s the unknown and the loss of part of us that’s scary but remember, you WANT the offending article gone and good riddance! So many people have gone before and will be behind you waiting for their surgery..I do wish you well and a v quick recovery xx
