I finished chemo 2 years ago next week and radiotherapy November. I am still battling with bald areas on top of head and very thin very soft ‘bum fluff’ type hair that I can do very little with. On advice I have had it trimmed to try encourage growth but…. I have used both Eufora and Nioxin

has anyone got any suggestions or has the same?

  • Hello Scaredbutpositive,

I am sorry to hear that you are dealing with persistent hair loss from your chemo treatments.

I can understand that it must be upsetting to still have some bald areas and thin hair.

I am not sure which type of chemo you had but perhaps it would be time to go to your doctor and get checked over?

I am wondering about a blood test to make sure you are not deficient in anything that could be affecting your hair regrowth. It may also be worth asking if there is anything that could be prescribed to help. Your GP would also be able to look at any current medication that you are on and see if they may delay hair regrowth. It may be worth a try.

    Jane

  • Thank you Jane. I have a GP appointment and will definitely discuss it.
    kind regards

  • Hi, sorry your regrowth is slow, I’m 8 wks post last chemo  (3x FEC 3x T & it’s coming back on my head , I cold capped & lost 80% but my bald monks patch is looking ok. however the rest of me is still fair free with eyelashes just starting to sprout

Did you have T (docetaxel / taxotere)? One rare side effect is that the hair never recovers so worth getting that check up with the GP

good luck, let us know how it goes x

  • That's great- let us know how you get on
