I was just wondering if there is any advice out there from those who may have experienced what I am experiencing now. I had a left side mastectomy with immediate implant reconstruction on August 10th. I also had SNLB. All been going ok - though in the past few days have felt a kind of burning sensation in my left armpit. I have done quick checks - no obvious swelling or redness, but on closer look this evening i can see and feel what I can only describe as a ridge. Its really tender and tight - almost like the feeling of sunburn.
I have looked it up and of course self diagnosed it as cording - I know it might not be but of course its a Friday evening, I don’t want it to get worse but its not an emergency (is it?).
Anyone been in this situation?
Thanks,
Jan
I haven't been offered physio at this stage. I was told to do no upper body exercise in the first two weeks other than shoulder rolls. I have just rung the ward on the advice of the MacMillan Nurse and I’m waiting for them to call me back (in handover). I have been really tired today and also feel nauseous so don’t know if it’s all connected.
Good to hear though that physio helped you
Sounds very like how others have described cording but definitely get medics advice. The burning feeling sounds very familiar - I had this after lumpectomy and SNB, best way I could describe it was like carpet burn and yet also weirdly numb. I think nerves are cut and stuff is moved around, which all needs to heal. Hope you get a call soon! Xxx
Did it heal? . I think I’m an impatient patient. They were going to call back in 15 mins 45 mins ago
Hi jan
I had cording after my lumpectomy and node removal . It felt like threads under the skin and was painful I massaged it a couple of times a day using a cream so no friction and I could feel them twanking and they went after a week . It was painful because you have to break them down . Good luck if you put cording into YouTube there is a physio on there who will give advice too .xx
