Hi Everyone, looking for any similar situations to mine. I’m a 33 year old mum to 3 lovely children youngest is nearly 2. To cut a long story short. I have found a funny shaped lump in my breast, I had a gp appt on Monday and have a 2ww referral. Which I am waiting for an appt for.
I have breast implants, I originally had them placed in 2013 then removed in 2020 and replaced due to a ruptured implant. And silicone leaking into nearby lymph nodes. When that happened I found a lump under my nipple which was what led to the finding of the rupture, that lump was nothing like this new lump/mass!
I recently stopped breastfeeding my youngest well about 2 months ago. So at first I thought possibly something to do with that. Had no other symptoms apart from the lump which seems to have come overnight.
I suppose my question is has anyone here been diagnosed with bc whilst already having implants? Or anyone had lumps with implants that didn’t turn out to be bc?
love to you all
Jo x
Hi GraceOlivia23 , sorry you’re going through this worry, hope your appointment comes soon so that you know more about what you’re dealing with. I haven’t had implants so can’t comment but thought I’d chip in anyway as it will bump your post up to the top again. Hopefully someone with a similar experience will see it and reply. In the meantime, just to say that I’ve had 2 previous referrals for lumps that did not turn out to be bc - one was a fibroadenoma and the other ‘lumpiness’ were cysts. I think it’s true to say (but I’m not a medic) that most lumps and bumps are not cancerous. And I’d assume this would apply equally to those with implants.
Wishing you well, hope you come back here to tell us that all is well! If by any chance it’s not, there will be lots of support here. Love and hugs, HFxx
Hi
Thank-you so much for replying.
I have been today, they called with a cancellation appt, I had an endamination and an ultrasound scan.
The lump I can feel is apparently silicone that wasn’t flushed out when I had the old ruptured implant removed. Some lymph nodes near my armpit are infiltrated with silicone and so is some breast tissue. She said because I have lost weight and stopped breastfeeding may be why I can suddenly feel it, she also said something about it expanding with moisture and breast changes during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
She said she’s not concerned but if any changes to go back to gp.
Sending love to you all xx
That’s great news GraceOlivia23 ! Glad they fitted you in quickly, gives faith in the system! Annoying that the silicon is so pervasive but great that they looked into it thoroughly and it’s all ok. Xxx
