Trying to have a nice sleep as it’s the only time you don’t think obviously, I am waking up from 2 am every 20 mins sweating and just scared and sad and confused ahhhh
Hi. The waking up isn't unusual. I did the same and still do it from time to time 9 months into my journey. There is an awake thread on here for people who can't sleep. Also if your mind is whirling have a pad handy to write any questions down.
Take care xxxx
Really sorry to hear your struggling with sleep right now it appears to be one of the effects following diagnosis lots struggle with. When I was newly diagnosed I was awake night after night for weeks. I could get to sleep ok but soon waking and either remaining awake all night or dropping back to sleep at dawn for a few hours . It was very erratic. I think this may be part of the way we process such devastating news internally. What I found as once you start the treatment journey and know more of what’s happening you’ll find you may start to sleep better again. Though even now I still wake time to time during the night but I’m about to start chemo so feeling anxious of course. There is lots of support here I found and your not alone on your journey. Wishing you all the best . Big hug x
Hi Lak95. I’m sorry you are struggling with sleeping. It seems to be a part of this process unfortunately. I am usually a good sleeper but have found it really hard to sleep now for more than a few hours. Everything just goes around and around in your head. It is worse now after surgery, as I have to sleep on my back, which I find really awkward. I sleep mainly on my front. The v pillow helps a bit. Sometimes I find it useful to read for awhile when I wake up, or as others have said there is the Awake thread on here. I hope you manage to settle once your treatment starts. Take care xx
woke up last night, lay there, then did some quick stretches and arm things and a squat or two.
then went back to bed put audiobook on, zzzz
doesn't work for everyone, but audiobooks help me sleep (w good narrators soothing voices, but don't listen to horror when u fall asleep i did that, not good dreams)
Sorry to read this! I also wake up lots in the night - I’m blaming the menopause caused by chemo. I find it really helps to drift off to an audiobook or meditation recording on audible (Diddy has recorded one which is v soothing! And his voice is v hot!) when o wake in the night I have previously got caught up in negative thoughts but I just put on an audiobook so I don’t spiral. Hope this helps. I find distraction is the best policy as it does me no good to panic. Not always easy! Hope your nights improve. X
