  • Hello Lisa

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing some side effects from your Zometa treatment. Have you spoken to your nurse team about these? They will be able to confirm if these are to be expected, whether they are likely to settle or if there is something they can offer to help.

In the meantime I have found some information that may be of help and I will pop a link below.

Zoledronic acid | Macmillan Cancer Support

I hope this helps a bit and I hope that the side effects can be eased for you.

  • Hi Lis50

Sorry to hear that you are joint pain and headaches with Zometa.  While I'm not on that I noticed that you haven't had any answers yet so I thought I'd reply to you to move you to the top of the discussion.  Hopefully someone will be along shortly with an answer for you.  MIf you are really concerned check with your oncology nurse or your oncologist whether what you are experiencing is normal particularly if it doesn't improve within the next day or two.

    Hope you feel better soon.

    Best wishes

  • Hello there Lisa,

So sorry you find yourself  having side effects with Zameta.

I am currently having it 6 monthly for 3 years and have so far  had 2 infusions. I had slightly different side effects to yourself , feeling very dizzy , off balance and tired and ended up having to have brain scans which were fortunately clear. The dizziness finally subsided and went. It wasn't until my second dose , when I had very similar symptoms, that I  put it down to zameta, but I am replying to you because after the second infusion, the symptoms were very mild by comparison and so I hope you  find the same.

As everyone here will tell you, it is always important to speak to your medical team who will be able to support you through these side effects which appear to be quite different from person to person.

Love and hugs to you and all the best with your continuing treatment.
