Hi everyone, I had my last EC chemo on Friday, had a few side effects incl racing heart etc. Has anyone had floaters and lights in their eyes? Had these since Friday

  • I would phone your red card nurses and check with them. It's not something I had but anything unusual I phoned the red card team to double check.

I’ve had no end of problems with my eyes (stems back yrs) but seemed worse through chemo, so much so my eye consultant sent me for brain scan but all clear. Said chemo is highly unlikely to affect eyes. We’re now looking why my vision has reduced so much in a yr. See your optician for full check. BWx

  • Most of us have changes to our eyes as we get older, including posterior vitreous detachment, when the vitreous starts to pull away from the retina. Floaters and lights can be a sign of this. I suggest you see an optician as soon as possible so they can check this and give you advice.

  • Thanks. I do already have floaters from wear and tear and I did get my eyes checked before 1st chemo but I will go back just to see if anything’s changed. At least then I will have some feedback for consultant

  • Hi,  I noticed my eyesight was instantly shocking after the first EC.

One evening I had what appeared to be raindrops falling in black & white speckles.  Generally my eyesight seems worse.

I mentioned it to the Oncologist,  she said it shouldn't cause eyesight issues but to see the optician for a check if I was worried.

I've noticed since that it appears to be linked to the fatigue and improves after a fews days post chemo.

I'll probably wait until after the final round and go for an eye test anyway.

  • Thanks for that. I got the black dots lots of them and saw them more in light. It has improved a little over past couple days. I will see optician I think just to check. I have finished the EC, now onto the P.

  • Ah snap.  I had my last EC Friday and start Pac next week.  We'll get through this!
