Hello can I ask if anyone has had this drug for treatment after surgery? I have HER2 positive breast cancer.
I had my Breast cancer surgery on 7th July and got my results 26th July. There was clear margins, but a small clump of cancer cells were in both the breast tissue and also the lymph tissue.
My surgeon has said that I'll likely have a course of Kadcyla chemotherapy.
I was wondering if any one has had this drug and how they got on with it?. I know we are all different, but some information for those who have had it as well as information from my Oncologist would be helpful.
Thank you
Karen
Hi Klee65
Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you had breast cancer. While I don't have any information on Kadcyla I noticed that you haven't had any answers yet so I thought I'd welcome you to the community. This rely will move you to the top of the discussion. Hopefully someone with the relevant experience will be along shortly.
Wishing you the best of luck with your treatment.
Best wishes

Hi Karen I am 8 sessions into a total of 14 of Kadcyla. I am also Her2 +. I have not had any significant side effects and after having 6 rounds of Docetaxel. Carboplatin and Phesgo the latest treatment is a walk in the park. Hoping you also have a better experience with your latest treatment. Big hugs xx
Hi Mimosa.
Thank you for the reply. It seems strange that there is not more responses. I was being to get concerned. I was allergy to Docetaxel, so ended up have Abraxane instead, which was slightly better in regards to side effects.
I was hoping to get back to work, but I'm not sure now looking at list of side effects.
Can I ask if you have ventured back to the work place?
Also did they stop your Phesgo injections as there same to be similar drugs in the mixture of Kadcyla?
Hope you are continuing to have minimum side effects.
Hi Klee65
I was diagnosed with breast cancer 3yrs ago this month.
I had 6 rounds of chemo 3 of which were docetaxcal which basically left me bedbound and ended up in hospital at one point., I then had a lumpectomy and 10 rounds of radiotherapy.
When I was told I had to have 14 rounds of Kadcyla I broke down crying and was thinking will this ever end .
I know we are all different but Kadcyla was a breeze. I was lucky enough to have my infusion on a Friday felt tired after it but by Monday was OK and back in work. The part I hated the most was having to have bloods a few days before each infusion.
I have just had my 2nd year mammogram and am all clear and just on tamoxifen now.
Hope the rest of your treatment goes well and if you have any questions please feel free to ask

Hi, I am retired so not working but, don't think it would have stopped me working. My oncologist told me she has other ladies that have worked throughout the treatment. They did stop my Phesgo injections to start me on Kadcyla but was told that if I didn't get on well with Kadcyla then would be put back on Phesgo. Was also told that I didn't have to accept this treatment but my philosophy is that if it is recommended by the experts then why wouldn't I do it? I appreciate that it may not be for everyone and choice is a personal thing. Wishing you all the best. Xx
I had 14 TDM1 and finished last year. I’m doing fine. The treatment is a chemo and herceptin combination and is infused into a vein over 30 mns. You are in and out quick. Every 3 weeks. It doesn’t cause hair loss, you might just have tiredness but it’s very doable. I returned to work whilst still on it. Once you start it the time will fly by, it’s a very clever successful treatment. Good luck xxx
Hi. I'm new to the forum so not sure where to post. As usual I'm lying wide awake !!!! I've had 3 cycles of kadcycla after having chemo, op and radiotherapy for breast cancer. It came as a shock to know I needed more treatment after being given the all clear. I'm struggling to get my head around it a bit. It's not as bad as first chemo I had but im getting a few side effects which is bringing me down a bit. Not sleeping really doesn't help. Hope it's OK me posting but I'm going a bit nuts here xxx
Hi Bronny
Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with Breast cancer. It’s perfectly understandable that you are struggling particularly as you weren’t expecting to have chemo. If the side effects get too much ring the number they gave you and they’ll make any adjustments that they feel are needed.
Best wishes

Sorry to hear your having troubles. I'm on the same stuff but only had one treatment so far last Monday. Have you considered taking CBD oil it might help you sleep it certainly does with me. I was sick the day after when I had a cup of tea in the morning but I found the anti sickness tablets they gave me for the last lot of chemo I had and that stopped it. Maybe explain to the nurses how was next time you go and hopefully they can give you something for it. Best wishes
Thanks for reply. I'm sat in Dr's waiting room. I'm also going to ring christie hotline and my nurse. I will get sorted out one way or another today xxxx
