Hi had mastectomy and reconstruction 6 weeks ago wound on back not healing very well consultant has said I might need to go back into theatre to have the slough removed from wound has anyone had to have this done, I’m due to go to Tenerife 8 weeks time need to get this wound cleared up so I can look for travel insurance

sorry your wound taking time to heal. I think it depends on wound size, depth etc and how much % of wound is slough. If the slough can’t be lifted with prescribed dressings then surgical debridement might be needed so that the wound can then start healing. 8 weeks is wee bit away. Maybe they can get your wound to a certain state before then and could be shown, either you or who you’re going with, to dress the wound while there. Hope things start to improve quickly for you x
