Asking for advice/anything similar..Had my 5 days of radiotherapy in March. Had a nasty cough & sore throat in April, June & now another bout. Had short dose of antibiotics for first 2. Went to GP today who has give me Gaviscon, as said silent reflux ? Apparently you can suffer with this if taking Venlafaxine for hot flushes. He's also sent me for a chest X-RAY. Just wondering if radiotherapy, Venlafaxine or anything else might have caused this horrible cough. Getting a bit fed up with it now, would feel ok about my breast cancer if I was getting enough sleep & not worrying about a cough...Has anyone else experienced this ? Thanks x

Hiya, I have a cough....I think I had it before I had radiotherapy, and it is apparently a 'silent reflux', its like throat clearing rather than coughing, I use beconase nasel spray.....I lost quite a bit of weight trying to manage it by diet.......I think chocolate makes it worse?

Had lots of tests but can't find anything except the reflux....I was told by ENT to try a sinus rinse called 'NeilMed' from Boots, you get a bottle and some sachets of natural saline that you mix with water and spray into your nose. That does help too. I also use antihistamine if all else fails. It's really miserable and I sympathise with you. Oh and I use gaviscon sometimes....

If you find a cure do let me know!

Thanks for this...trying Gaviscon liquid as prescribed by doc. I have a coughing fit for about a minute and then it stops ?? I have been using antihistamines. Will let you know if Gaviscon works
