Hello, I am four months post chemo and wondered what hair dye I could use.  Any advice appreciated please Pray

  • Hi   have a read through this article by Cancer Hair Care. They cover what to consider before you colour your hair and also list some of the more natural brands available if you might prefer this approach. I’ve been using Daniel Field water colour since a couple of months after my chemo finished in July 2021.

  • Hello   I waited almost 6 months post chemo before dying my hair. It was growing back well and I didn't want to take a risk and dye it myself so I went to my usual hairdresser and he checked the condition of my hair and scalp before agreeing to use dye. I'm not exactly sure what dye he used but he did say that he had mixed a lower strength than normal to ensure that it wouldn't be too harsh on my hair and scalp, plus it helped that he had previous experience of customers who had been through chemo. I'm now 18 months post chemo and my hair is back to how it was pre-chemo, it's in really good condition and the 'waves' are gone too. Personally I'd recommend getting a professional to check over/dye your hair, certainly for the first attempt post chemo, just to be on the safe side as there are a lot of dyes out there and it's important that you use the right one for your hair and scalp condition. Hope this helps x

  • Hello! I dyed my hair 5 months after, the hairdresser did it and recommended a semi permanent as it’s less harsh to the hair and I’ve had no problems at all with it, my hair coped very well and it really boosted my self esteem x

  • Hi, I need to dye my hair but haven't yet because I'm nervous was told to use a one less harsh too stopped chemo eight months ago

  • Hi   I’m 3 months post chemo and just dyed my hair for the first time. I used naturtint as recommended on the cancerhaircare website. It’s covered my greys really well and made me feel so much better!
