Hi. How long should it be before my bowels return to normal. I had constipation throughout my seven cycles of chemo but thought once I had finished things would return to normal. But they haven't. How long after.chemonshould I continue taking laxatives.
I am also finding I get heartburn particularly when eating bread. What do people take to ease this.
Hi,
I am interested to see peoples answers to this as I continue to have digestive issues 14 weeks on from chemo. Are you taking estrogen blocking medications? I am, and I was wondering whether it was that that was to blame. I find rennies the best thing for heartburn and eating my last meal bo later than 6 helps prevent me getting it at bedtime.
I continue to have digestive issues 2.5 years on, but I think it is the hormone blockers rather than lingering effects of chemo. Menopause interrupts your gut flora. I drink kefir daily, which helps to keep everything ticking over so that I don't feel too bad, and laxido prescription does the rest!
I have a gluten intolerance so gave up bread years ago. I do have the odd thing with wheat in it and I get a bloated tummy and feel a bit rubbish, and I can also feel sore. I avoid it as much as possible.
Oh yes it could be the cancer drugs too - I’m full of aches n pains
