I’ve been taking letrozole for 4 months then was switched to Exemestane for the last 7 months. The side effects seem the same. I have lots of pain in joints and tendons, does anyone know if they cause long term damage and has anyone decided to just stop taking them?

  • Hello Psalm103

i started on Letrazole (approx 2 years) then switched to Anastrazole (approx 6 months) I too feel full of aches n pains everywhere in muscles and joints.  I’m hoping to get an Onco appointment to see if anything can be done.  Sorry I can’t answer your question!! I hope to ask that question when I get my appointment .  Xx

I've been on Letrozole for 8 mths and no real issues. I was told that's the reason we have bone infusions as well but I could be wrong..

  • From what I’ve read and discussed with the oncologist, the main potential longer term issue is osteoporosis, which can be counteracted by the zolendric acid treatments. Occurrence can also be lessened by weight bearing exercise and healthy diet.

Joints and tendons can also be helped by regular exercise, find something to suit you - walking, running, swimming, weights, yoga and Pilates - all helps.

    Best wishes xx

  • Hello Pslam103, I dont have the answer.  I've been on them for couple months and I di have a aches and pains. Especially my knee. I'm now back at yoga, even though I'm still bit slow. I've been making myself go and adapt the yoga to what I can do. Its helping, my legs feel stronger, a bit less pain in joints.  I've got really wrestless legs as well!
