Hi all, has anyone else had high Alt readings on their blood tests?

One year down the line - lumpectomy- chemo 6 months -  5 days of radiotherapy and now down to my last two herceptin and I am on Anastrozole.
My last two blood tests from my gp show elevated Alt so I have to repeat the blood test again- has anyone else had this ? Could it be my treatment?

  • Drugs can have impact on the liver. This is one of the reasons we do blood tests while on treatment, which allows the oncologist to manage the balance between benefits and damage when it comes to our treatments.

I'd make sure that the oncologist is fully aware, and I would also ask how high an ALT result really is too high and needs further investigation. If needed, insist on being referred for further investigation.

It is also very possible that the next blood test would show a good or at least acceptable result.

  • Me too, seeing oncologist in a couple of weeks.  Not had any drug treatment, just radiology so hoping it’s just because of that.

  • I have a fatty liver and my liver function alt was very high till I lost weight.I luckily avoided chemotherapy be cause it can make your liver function worse .Then they have put me on arimadex .Found out this may make my liver function high again I hope the GP will monitor this .All I can say his good luck xx

  • Hope so, good luckBlush

  • Hi

I had a lumpectomy last May followed by 5 sessions of radiation. On tamoxifen since then. This May I have just had a hysterectomy due to thickening of lining. I had to get my bloods done and my GGT came back at 99. I read this on my my patient app. This was 6 weeks ago and I’ve just seen it. No dr has been in touch regards to this. So I will phoning them up today to see what’s happening.
    just one worry after another
