Hi everyone , hope you’re all as well as possible
I just wondered how you are all getting on with Abemaciclib ? So far I’ve been very start stop with it since beginning at the end of Feb , first because of cellulitis which lasted 7 weeks and then a sickness bug!
I just wonder when the diarrhoea/ stomach cramps / fatigue settle down ? I know the dose can be reduced but I was hoping to give the meds a good run before I look into that so I’m hoping to get your experiences
Thank you
xx
Hi, sorry to hear that you have been unwell
I'm on cycle 9, reduced dose from cycle 6 from 150 mg x 2 a day to 100mg x 2. Definitely the right decision, less diarrhoea, less fatigue/more energy.
The results are still good my oncologist confirmed, & I wanted to stay on it but was struggling with the max dose
Hope you can get back started again & settle
Best wishes x
Hi Kitty
Thanks for that , I started taking it again last week but I’m finding it difficult
I’m so glad things have settled for you now after the reduced dose
xx
Hi Dollydimple
I am on my third cycle of Abemaciclib 150mg twice daily for primary breast cancer. I have been very fortunate so far in that my only side effect has been occasionally having to rush to the loo. I have had no other side effects whatsoever and I am managing to work full time etc. I don't know if this might change going forward but all fine so far.
Hiya
Yeah I was on 100 done 3 cycles but start stop because of side effects.
Just spoke to my oncologist and he has taken me off it because my stomach got really Bloated and pain in my pelvis and constantly on the loo.My skin hasn't been great either
I now have a two week break and going to try 50 dose fingers crossed
This is brilliant
Im still struggling but hoping it will settle down
otherwise it will definitely have to be a dose reduction because I cannot carry on like this
xx
This sounds similar to me , I also feel so weak , it’s awful !
I hope the break helps and the 50mg doses are more tolerable for you
xx
Thank you fingers crossed yeah 2 years is a long time to feel ill xxx
It really is isnt it ?!
im glad some people seem to be tolerating it well but it seems lots are having the dose reduced
let me know how you get on
xx
I haven’t checked on here for a couple of months so thought I’d see how everyone was doing. I’ve been on it 7 months now and feel ok but the diarrhoea is still a pain in the bum literally . I’ve moved to two monthly checks now which feels great compared to 2 weekly when I started. As I’ve said I’m still experiencing regular diarrhoea they did say at my next appt in a couple of weeks we could discuss reducing the dose. I find it confusing though as if 100mg is just as good as 150mg…why does anyone take 150mg?! Surely we’d all start on 100mg?! I hate having the choice and worrying will it help as much
