I completed treatment last year and have an appointment to see the breast surgeon in July.  I'm assuming my first yearly mammogram will be prior to that but haven't received a date for it as yet.  Is it usual for patients to have their mammogram before their appointment with their surgeon?

  • Hi

have you been given any news yet on your first year mammogram. Fingers crossed all good  How long did you have to wait to receive them in. I’m coming onto my 3 rd week now and still nothing x

  • Hi

I phoned the breast care team last week, as I hadn't had my results, and was told that everything was fine and that I'd get a letter in due course. They apologised that I hadn't had a letter but said they were trying to catch up.

Since I wrote my original reply to this post, I've now got my 1 year appointment with my surgeon, although that's about 3 months after I had surgery.

    One happy bunny!

  • Got my 5th and last annual mammo next Tuesday, then I go into self refer every 3 years. They have given me a plastic covered little notice to pop a reminder on, which fits under my fridge magnet.

I’m over ‘that certain age’, you see!

Hope you’re all good and clear,

    Hugs xxx

  • Ah that’s really good news. I think I will phone tomorrow as that will be 3 weeks. I’m feeling so scared x

  • I think we all build up a panic level at those annual times, I’m sure you’ll be ok. If not then you’ll get into the system fast and get sorted.

  • Thank you bits the waiting that’s the hardest x

  • How many weeks after your mammogram was the phone call. I’m so happy to hear it’s not always bad news the longer you wait x

  • I was told to phone if I hadn't heard anything after 4 weeks.

I'll be keeping everything crossed for you.

    ((hugs))

    Hi Army,

I haven't received an appointment for a mammogram as yet.  I'm supposed to be seeing the surgeon on the 25th of July so don't know how likely I am to have one prior to that.  I had to stop taking Letrozole because of side effects so was discharged from oncology not long after completing radiotherapy.  I hope you get your mammogram results back soon xx

  • Received my results today by letter 3 weeks. Report states no needs for concern

so first year completed Tada omg the relief is real x
