Hi , I had a left masectomy 9 days ago , the drain was removed 2 days ago and I’ve noticed slight swelling under my bra under my left shoulder should I be concerned?
Im afraid I don’t know the answer to this but this is how I would approach it if it were me:
Is it hot?
Does it feel filled with fluid?
Is it painful?
Do you have a temperature?
Do you feel unwell?
Have you been given an out of normal hours number to call if concerned?
If the answer is yes to any of the above first 5 and you have been given a number to call, I would call. If not then I would be calling the breast care nurse first thing in the morning for advice. My understanding is that things are best dealt with early doors - it may be totally in line with expectations with your procedure but never any harm in checking.
Don’t know if that helps - as I say, I don’t know the answer but my logic would run with that approach.
