I had a masectomy 2 years ago and got tremendous support here, I am in trouble again and turned here for help. After my two ops I came away with lymphodema in the arm and hand. I basically just carried on and tried not to let it stop me, although it was a bit troublesome. About 3 weeks ago my hand and arm started to swell and is currently 3 times normal for me size. I have been seen by g10 etc result -probably a flare up.

Does this really happen, how do you cope with it. I cannot hold dishes, cups etc anymore due to the size. I know I just have to cope, but anyone with any coping strategies, or should I be going to another forum with this.

Suffice to say I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all the support I have had here.

There are lots much worse off than I am now and I hug you all. Don't stop crying if it helps, take time for you, you all need it now, instead of worrying about everyone else, remember you are important.

  • Hi  , sorry this is happening and please don’t suffer in silence. I can’t advise re your hand and arm lymphoedema as I only have it in my breast (from radiotherapy) but I was referred to my local lymphoedema service and got great advice there. Please do press for a referral (from GP or breast clinic, breast clinic might be quicker though probably depends on your area) as there’s stuff that can be done to help. Also if you haven’t already, do check out the Lympheodema Support Network (LSN) as they’re a charity with advice and support to offer.
Sending a big virtual hug your way and hope you can get some help and support with this. HFxxx
