MRI

I had an appointment for an MRI with contrast yesterday. I've never had an MRI before.

First, they couldn't get the canula into a vein, even though apparently, I had 'good veins' they just kept bouncing out of the way.

Well, that was an experience, on my front, face down for an hour, with my boobs hanging through holes in the bed, listening to the Eagles.

In my head, I was on a Caribean beach bed.Sunglasses

  • I've had a few MRIs - legs and pelvis, and then boobs several times. I actually found the MRI for boobs the easiest one. For some reason, I didn't feel as claustrophobic lying on my front, and they seem to pump in oxygen to you as well. It also wasn't as long as my other MRIs

It is an odd experience though!

  • I was expecting to, but I didn't feel in the least bit claustrophobic.

  • When I had my MRI they played ‘I want to break free’ by Queen. Quite appropriate i thought….

Had MRI on brain and ocular area last week…not an experience I would want to repeat because of the NOISE!! However, they told me to wait 2 weeks for results but my lovely consultant rang me this Tuesday after bank holiday to say ‘all is normal’! What a nuce guy putting me out of my misery AND making the call so quickly! God Love The NHS!!

  • Hi Tavares, I have a Brain MRI in the morning. Just curious, how long were you in the machine? I keep reading wildly different timeframes. P.S -Glad yours came back alright!

Approx 20 mins….it went v quickly and was rather hypnotic..at one point I started counting the ‘bangs’ then it changed to another rhythm..through boredom, I spent the time working out the names of the families in Coronation Street!! I really wish you well and a quick negative response. Thnx for your kind msg. Xx

  • Thank you for the reply. I'm sure i can deal with 20 mins! I'd definitely fail the Coronation Street test and be shouting at the radiographer to google Sally's last name because i know it's Dynevor in real life.. I'll probably try and remember all the different things my children need for school next week x
