Just read that Sarah Beeny has been given the all clear. I have heard if other celebs being told this and wonder whether anyone here has. I finished active treatment in October following bi lateral mastectomies, chemo and radiotherapy. I'm now on tamoxifen and won't get any regular surveillance as I don't have any boobs! No one has actually told me I'm all clear or what to expect next. Interested in your experiences.
I was not told that sadly probably because I didn’t have good results. Happy for you
At the start of my treatment my oncologist actually said it's in the lap of the gods as to whether it's successful or not!!
Oh good grief, talk about leaving you guessing! I suppose they can never confidently say ‘everything is fine’ as they have no idea in the long run. Put your trust in the Gods then! They’re on your side! I don’t think about the future, I try to live for today..Big hugs! X
I expect they don’t really know . I was told I don’t need a CT scan then added yet ! Which made me sad .. as if to say one day it will come black . Probably me being paranoid. Wishing you all the best xx
Hi, When I was diagnosed I asked the surgeon , can I be cured? He said they never use that terminology but I had early stage breast cancer which was ‘ treatable’. I am still having active treatment with Herceptin injections but after two surgeries to remove tumour and clear margins, after the second one they declared “ no evidence of disease” .
Sarah Beaney wasn't given the 'all clear', she was told she was at the end of her main treatment like I think most of us are, it was just the headline of the news - it makes a better headline! She said it feels weird not to know whether you're cancer-free, that she has to be on drugs for years, and has to be extra vigilant. Sounds familiar.
I was also told no evidence of the cancer any more after I had my lumpectomy. I had already had chemo to shrink it, and the surgery for clear margins. I assumed that was the point I was cancer-free, but was never officially told that. Just as far as they can tell.
Interestingly my surgeon told me I was officially cancer free after successful lumpectomy. However I am going through adjuvant chemo and radiotherapy to reduce risk of recurrence following oncotype test results..
Yes I read that…only by various scans, CTs, MRI can they probably find “no evidence” however it’s impossible to state that it’s clear long term. We know that in 2030 there will be an injection coming out to attack cancer sooner but everything in life to do with health is a ‘wait and see’. I’m just grateful I don’t have to think about it anymore and to have little or no further invasive treatments! Best wishes to all my fellow peeps!
