Thickened womb - tamoxifen

Hi

I've been on tamoxifen for 8 years after a bc diagnosis at 39. Tolerated it really well after an initial bumpy few months.

I've become menopausal in the last couple of years and had 12 months without a bleed and then had a super heavy one. Mentioned it to the gp who didn't seem concerned and then the same thing happened a further 12 months down the line.  My mum urged me to speak to my gp who I felt was initially a bit dismissive saying I needed to be without a period for 2 years to be considered post menopausal. After highlighting tamoxifen usage they agreed referral for an ultrasound which confirmed endometrial thickening.

Just had a call from a different gp at the surgery (much more sympathetic) to say they're making an urgent referral to gynae and want to do blood tests for cancer markers.

Would help so much to hear from anyone who has been or is going through similar xx

    Hi

I noticed you'd not had any replies yet so by replying it will place your post at the top. If you would like any gynae type support there is a womb group, this is the link  Womb (uterus) cancer forum

    Best wishes for your results,

    A x

  • Not in a similar situation but 10 years ago (well before my BC) I had a gynae procedure to reduce fibroid size which they couldn’t go through with as when they got in there as womb lining was abnormal - too thick to work through. Good that they are checking it out for you but try not to worry until you know the facts as it could be unrelated/benign and I’m really hoping that for you. Good luck.
