I finished chemo over 2 weeks ago and am impatiently waiting for my hair to grow back! I know it’ll be a long journey but wondered if there was anything I could do or take to help it along. Has anyone successfully taken any supplements or anything that’s helped? Any tips welcome!
When asked on here I always recommend Nioxin shampoo and conditioner which I used . Over three year ago .went into first lockdown in March 2020 with a fuzz of hair came out desperate for cut .
For me it worked to have head shaved with no 2 so there was a shape for new hair growth . Quite quickly I just looked as if I wore hair really short .
Hair came back same colour but did get chemo curls . Also hair back to being thick and now grows quickly needed cut every 4/6 weeks I now keep it pixie length.
My hairdresser also recommended prior to losing hair as little shampooing as possible as we shouldn’t handle it too much also little amount of product and no heat so dry naturally
best of luck
Thank you Coddfish and Northerner there seems to be several options when I look up Nioxin, which one did you use?
It is horrible, I hate what I see in the mirror now and cannot wait for it to grow to a reasonable length. I had long thick hair so found this particularly hard. Hopefully any tips received can help you. Good luck x
Hi i finished chemo 8 weeks ago and like you was suddenly desperate for my hair back ( didn’t bother me at all during chemo) please be patient it will return , at first I was concerned that it was extremely patchy but it now seems to be filling in on the top so try to stay strong, think how far you have come… my eyelashes are just beginning to make an appearance too and I actually shaved my legs last week! Wishing you all the very very best, remember we are strong women… virtual hugs

PS massage your head everyday to activate/stimulate the hair follicles…
Biotin shampoo and supplements can help too

Shellbell24 I used no2 shampoo and conditioner only small amount and remembering to massage and clean scalp with shampoo rather than rub hair and damaging new growth .
march June. October
First two pics I was shielding so no hairdresser hair doing it’s own thing . October pic after hairdresser keeping a short shape trim every 4 weeks whilst hair growing .
Believe me, I so understand how you feel! I tried the cold cap to offset the effect of chemo but still lost my hair after my second chemo session, 3 weeks ago. Ngl, feeling traumatised by having no hair, but been looking into hair products to try once chemo finished. Found a few wigs on Amazon to try in the meantime, trying to have some fun rocking a few different looks as a distraction.
