Hi
Any ladies who can give me some positives about Tamoxifen. My consultant has prescribed it as my cancer is oestrogen positive. I picked it up from the pharmacy a week ago but feel too scared to take it. I saw my consultant today regarding an abscess that had formed on sentinel node biopsy site, and he has explained how my chances of breast cancer recurring are high and taking this will significtly reduce the risk. I'm aware of this but still feel afraid of how it may change me. Are these feelings normal?
I thinks it’s normal to be scared I’ve nearly been on them a year and I feel fine. Tiredness has been my only gripe.
Hi Twiglet , I was on Letrozole for the first three years post mx, and then swapped to Tamoxifen as I’m supposedly low risk. But already had osteoporosis prior to bc.
It’s ok, honestly! Yes hot flushes are a pest, as is the very slight concern about DVTs but I have only had the flushes, oh and foot cramps a bit.
Hugs xxx
Moomy
I took it for 6 weeks before moving on to Letrozole and apart from being a bit warm at night I didn’t notice I was on it.
Thanks . I know everyone is different , but to hear a positive story is great.x
I cried the day before and the day of taking it for the first time - I was so anxious and overwhelmed at the thought of 10 years of it. But I’ve been on it for 5 weeks now and don’t even think about it any more - apart from the odd hot flush and muscle ache it’s been fine so far and the benefits far outweigh the risks xx
