I had a mastectomy three months ago. Overall it’s gone very well.
However yesterday I started to feel incredibly cold and could not get warm. Took my temperature and it was 37.9.
I still have some fluid around the scar but it’s manageable. However, now the fluid is firmer and it’s throbbing and warm to touch It feels very uncomfortable as opposed to painful. My shoulder aches too.
Waiting on a callback from the Breast nurse. I just wonder whether anybody else experienced something similar
I have t been warm since my mastectomy in Feb..I consistently wear a thermal vest, T-shirt and jumper in the house! I don’t think we will get back to how we were for a long time..I do have a friend whose 8yrs down the line with mastectomy etc and she’s now fine..says she was always cold for a long time.
Hi MissMolly welcome to the forum. Pain, redness and a feeling of firmness are all all classic signs of infection.
It does sound like it could be either an infection developing or indeed a pocket of fluid/blood that is there, so I think you are doing the right thing seeking advice from the experts but dont leave this too long especially with the Xmas Break pending, if need be get in touch with your GP surgery and get them to have a look at this for you. xxxx
Thank you Gail. I have spoken to the Breast nurses who have asked me to see how I am tomorrow and if no better to give them a call back.
