Hi all,

As anyone experienced an infection after surgery where they had lymph nodes removed or biopsy on sentinel nodes??

I have had a very sore, uncomfortable under arm area since surgery 17 days ago. My doctor has prescribed antibiotics, which I have been taking for 6 days now and there isn’t much improvement.

Part of the area is very red, I did have pus coming from the wound, but that appears to have cleared up. I have another appointment at the hospital on Tuesday for a check up.

Thank you Blush

Spoke to friend who also was put on stronger antibiotics and has at last after 2 weeks got on top of it. Can now lift her arm and movements are less painful. Thnx to the breast nurse and A&E. they say it was a horrible infection due to a cut possibly made by bra.. hope yours is manageable and dissipates soonest…x

  • Hi Valleyside

i had surgery one month ago and I am experiencing pain and redness on my breast and under my arm, my surgeon wasn’t too concerned and said it would clear up with antibiotics. I started taking them 3 days ago and the pain has lessened considerably but there is still a lot of redness. My nurse said if it doesn’t clear up to contact her so I will on Thursday if it’s still the same.
Good luck at your check up we will all get through this together.

  • Thank you Tavares for the info and for taking the time to contact your friend. Today is only my 1st day on the stronger antibiotics, hopefully they will begin to work soon. Give your friend my best wishes xx

  • Thank you Glowinggift for your reply. I am seeing the nurse on Tuesday, hopefully she can take a look and give me some advice xx
