Hi - a sleepless night and seeking out folks who’ve had this happen! I was diagnosed aged 45,  7 years ago, have annual mammograms as high risk family history too (Grandmother Mother Sister) In the summer, at my mammogram, I felt a tiny lump, which was checked by ultrasound. Nothing detectable, but was encouraged to keep an eye on it and get in touch if still concerned. I can still feel it and so my GP has referred me to breast clinic. My issue is that no one who has checked my breast can feel it, but it feels very obvious to me. Starting to feel like I’m losing my mind! Anyone had this experience?

  • Hi Missseuss welcome to the forum. I think that you are doing exactly the right thing and at least the GP has listened to you and is sending  you to get checked out. Im wondering if you had any surgery 7 years ago as this could be scar tissue that you are feeling but as i said best to get checked and hope it all goes well for you and the outcome is positive for you as well. xxxxxx

  • Hello Gail and thanks for the reply.

I should have been more specific, that's what 3 nights with little sleep will do for you! I did have a lumpectomy but on the other - left - breast - radiotherapy too & that breast is unfortunately like a brick now :-) lots of scarring and deformation. No chemotherapy, had hormonal treatments 'til Nov 2020. It being the other side is what's making me feel stupid really - I keep reading how unlikely it'd be to have bilateral BC so lets hope the odds are indeed in my favour.

  • If you can feel it, it needs to be checked out. You are doing the right thing to go to breast cancer clinic, where you can be thoroughly checked out.
