Finished my chemo nearly 8 weeks ago and finger nails have finally stopped being sore, still look like they are bleeding under the nail, one nail on one hand and the thumb nail  one on the other hand became infected, swelled up, bright red and so painful, had to go to minor injuries and have them drained, so much poison came out, dressed them and antibiotics given, this was 2 weeks ago, still bit of poison in them and now going to treatment room to be cleaned & dressed, it’s so frustrating because I was just getting used to be feeling ok in myself and doing stuff, can’t even get any type of glove on due to the dressings, bet I’m gonna loose the nails as well, anyone else had the same problem? X

Eek! Feel for you! Finished chemo in July and nails went black 1/2 way down, then red, then lifted but didn’t come off. Fingertips peripheral neuropathy but manageable. Eventually went to GP who prescribed treatment for nail fungus after taking samples but it came back clear. Will mention to oncologist when I see him on Wed. I hope yours clears up soon..it’s all the toxicity of the chemo leaving your body..rotten hasn’t it? BW x

  • I mentioned it my oncologist and wasn’t overly concerned about it, said hopefully clear in time, I did suffer with burning soles of feet whilst having chemo and put on tablets for a month, soles of feet still not right, feel like I’m walking on sponges and feet gone to sleep, very strange sensation, finger tips still tingle and feel warm at times, hoping finger/thumb look better when redressed on Tuesday, hope you get sorted too, take care X
