A week after my drain was removed post mastectomy I had a large swelling which BCN nurse said needed drawing at the clinic - this happened 3 times over next few weeks and I’m now seeing my consultant fortnightly with ultrasound when any visible fluid is drained off. At my last visit nothing could be drained off but I still have hematomas and consultant has said I might have to have surgery to remove it. If left does it go away on it’s own- does anyone know the risks. It’s been 2 months since my mastectomy and the scar has healed well. Is there anything I should be doing to help the hematoma break down - I read somewhere heat pads help but not really sure what I can do - if anything… thanks in advance for any advice
PS I’m fortunate that I don’t need any further treatment
