Good morning, I'm new to this forum and would really welcome some advice. I'm 55, had stage 1 Breast cancer lumpectomy surgery in 2019 and am now in full throttle menopause.
My BC was estrogen receptive so I wondered if anyone can give me advice as to what hrt alternative they are taking, as I really can't cope with it much longer.
There are a few things available on prescription which are non hormonal - gabapentin, low dose SSRI anti-depressents and clonidine. I tried clonidine for hot flushes and it left me numb so I stopped taking it. I'm currently trying an SSRI for mood swings and hot flushes, but have only just started taking it. So far, I am finding my mood is more stable so I'm hoping it will be good to take he edge off things. It can take a few weeks to work so hoping it will also reduce my night sweats.
I found acupuncture hugely helpful for anxiety.
I would probably try an anti-depressent, but you can't take some of them if you're on tamoxifen.
i am the same with my cancer and was on hrt, my doctor has now put me on another hrt but not estrogen based its called Tibolone, wether I'm still going to be on that after my operation I don't know but it seems to be helping me with the hot flushes, mind you I did have a period for 4 days when I started taking I don't have now and I'm only a month into taking them
