Hi ladies, I’m after a bit of advice please.
I had a wide local excision in April and finished my radiotherapy in August. I’ve been wearing the post surgery bras since but now I’m concerned that they are not giving me enough support, I wondered what people tend to wear.
Im also looking for recommendations for a good sports bra as I’m fairly large chested.
Thanks ladies
Ooh good question and I’m hoping you get lots of answers. I’ve had a mastectomy and chemo and about to have radio and no way is my remaining GG cup feeling well enough supported ….
Thanks for the reply, I’m hoping for some advice we can share! Good luck with your radiotherapy xx
Hi,
I enjoyed running prior to chemo and hope to get back to it at some time. In terms of sports bras, I love runderwear, they can be a bit pricey but often have offers, they have an easy on version, which are, as they say, easier to get on and off. They wash well and are very comfy. Find them online.
Good luck with your other question too
I feel your pain even though 7 years on, I'm a 36/38G cup. I had to have a mould made fur radiotherapy to keep them in place ! I wore my pist surgery bras a bit too long as so comfy but awful shape. I bought two moulded, lightly padded cotton bras from M&S then to ensure support and to protect from knocks. I then moved back to my pre surgery wired bras but didn't find them that comfy - I've always bought expensive, well made bras but after surgery they just weren't right. I then tried Playtex Flower Lace Full Cup Wired Bra and loved them for years but 6 years on my breasts although still a G cup are much softer, the firmness has gone and they are no longer comfy. I've now tried Fantasies again but not loving . If you worried about wire causing friction try bra expanders - search ebay just a couple of pounds. Also panty liners great for providing extra protection under breast if you skin broke down there .
I am 8 weeks post double mastectomy currently sitting with 34d breasts (previously 34f-g). My surgeon has a preference to under armour high support bras for exercise. These can be expensive but can also be gotten from the likes of sports direct etc. Hope this helps
Helen x
Like you I’m a gg and I’m struggling finding suitable supportive bras. I have bought from M&S which are ok but nothing like I used to wear. I used to have underwire bras the majority of the time buhave been advised to wait around a year (?) before trying them again. I’ve seen Miss Mary of Sweden on FB which look good but haven’t ordered from them as I’m confused about their sizing.
You get lots of good advice as it looks like a lot of us are in the same boat ! X
I was allowed back in underwire after surgery because my only scar was top left quadrant of left breast and I needed support to stop pulling on wound. I had to ditch them for radiotherapy though so I bought post surgery bras.
I tried some sports bras but how the bell do you get your lalas in them. I was crying laughing on the zip up one! How the hell do you hold together to start zipping up - it was pinging around changing room
. At least you had a laugh
. The ones from TU I have with zip at front are very soft and I bought an XXL
which were great for after operations but I’m now looking for better support and ones which give a better shape. Unfortunately I’m still waiting for radiotherapy ( 2nd op was mid August but long waiting list in this area
️) so might have to go back to soft ones during that. Been a long 6 months since I received diagnosis.
