One hairy armpit

So, I appreciate this isn't the most pressing of concerns after a cancer diagnosis, but is anyone else wondering what to do with one hairy armpit after a axillary node removal?

After a fair few weeks in pjs and surgical bras I feel it would boost my mood to start having pamper days and looking after my appearance a bit more.

I've heard that using an electric razor is safest on a numb underarm but I am nervous to try it. I wondered if anyone had any tips or suggestions or is it just a case of 'embrace the hair or use a razor very very carefully'.

Anyone having great success with an electric razor before I order another useless item from Amazon?

  • I had node clearance and lumpectomy on 20th July. I’ve also completed the radiotherapy treatment in September.

I’ve used an electric shaver on the area. It’s quite tricky as I have absolutely no feeling there at all. I use a magnified mirror and it’s all been fine. I use moisturiser regularly. Hope this helps .

    take care NannaJ

  • Ok great, thank you NannaJ - it's reassuring to hear that you haven't had any issues Thumbsup

  • I switched to an electric razor too at first. Some talc and a mirror helped. I do on occasion now use a razor but still need a mirror although my armpit is tender afterwards so maybe I should stick to the electric one. I have a remington battery powered one. Was about £17 from boots. I find i don't sweat as I used to so shaving helps.

  • Hi Tired Minion. That's interesting, I've noticed a change in how much I sweat also. I appreciate the responses, I'm going to take a trip to Boots at the weekend and treat myself to an early Christmas present Blush
